So you would think removing a carpet would be fairly simple. A company offered at a reasonable price to remove our basement carpet that was just stinky and stained. So they came yesterday, and mid-job my wife learned they don’t remove the tack board. What is tack board? That’s what my wife said. Well it’s the board around the perimeter of the room that has nails poking out of it to hold on to the carpet. Yes that is nails all around my basement. So after a little bit of disagreement the owner of the company was a reasonable guy and came out today and removed it all and didn’t charge us extra. So if anyone else out there wants to remove a carpet make sure that they remove the carpet and the tack board when you negotiate a deal.
